Creative Harvest will inspire garden lovers

-

Enjoy a great day out exploring a diverse range of productive and inspirational food gardens when “Creative Harvest” is held across West Gippsland this weekend.

Event coordinator Wendy Savage said the event on Saturday and Sunday was entirely outdoors with 15 gardens on offer ranging from large farmland settings to very small townhouse settings.

With many locals having more time to work on their gardens during lockdown and whilst working from home, Ms Savage expects plenty of interest in this year’s event.

It is also a chance to tap into the knowledge and experiences of local gardeners who excel growing food in West Gippsland.

“We always aim to have a mix of gardens so people can see what works for them,” Ms Savage said.

The decision to run “Creative Harvest”, now in its fifth year, was made some months ago with locals from Modella to Moe and even out to Neerim South keen to open their gardens and share their passion. There are also many offerings in Warragul and Yarragon South.

“Come along because it really is a great day out. Travel around the West Gippsland area and enjoy the drive between gardens, it’s a lovely day,” she said.

Ms Savage said the committee had also improved the ticket value for this year’s event. For just $20, garden enthusiasts can visit an unlimited amount of the 15 gardens over the weekend. Alternatively, admission is $5 per garden.

Promising “something to suit everybody”, Ms Savage said creatives would also be featured in each food garden. A mix of art, food art, preserves, and produce will be available to browse from visiting creatives and the gardeners themselves.

Creative Harvest will run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are available online at bbsn.org.au/events or at any garden. For further information, call Wendy Savage on 0428 422 461.
