Mixed pairs final

The final of the mixed pairs championship was played last week between Paul Simmons and Gabrielle Draisma versus Matt Draisma and Elsie Hefford.

The game was even early with both teams on three shots after six ends. Matt trailed the jack on three separate occasions to give his team a commanding 11/3 lead after 11 ends.

Paul and Gabrielle fought back hard and after 16 ends led by two shots. They were again holding one when Matt played a perfect trail to make three to lead by one shot.

On the last end, Matt and Elsie held two shots, and holding game, when Paul managed to kill the end to force a replay.

Again, Matt end Elsie held two shots, and game again, but Paul played two fantastic bowls to get two shots and give Gabrielle and himself the 19/18 win.

It was a high-quality game, with all four playing well. It was also enjoyed by the band of spectators who came to watch.
