Drouin lose battle

Drouin bowlers were happy to get back into Saturday pennant competitio­n over the weekend after the Christmas break.

In division one, Drouin came off second best after a good battle with Trafalgar.

Division one: Drouin 4/86 lost to Trafalgar 16/106.

Peter Wallace, Graeme Aubrey, Samantha Atkinson and Toby Wallace (skip) defeated Tim Fraser’s team 27/22. Denise Hamilton, Arthur Moore, Dale Hendrick and Sheryl Atkinson (skip) lost to Darren Kane’s team 15/41. Maureen Leighton, John Leighton, Mick Fleming and Mark Leighton (skip) defeated Tommy Lodge’s team 26/22. Corey Atkinson, Col Finger, Les Firth and Mark Atkinson (skip) lost to Ian Miles’ team 18/21.

Division two: Drouin (2) 4/95 lost to Moe 16/102.

McFadzean and Necip Akarsu (skip) lost to Stuart Caines’ team 21/27. Andrew Kidd, Ian McCartney, Bruce Andrews and Phil Jarred (skip) lost to Alexander Caines’ team 17/33. Justin Keddie, Neil Bullen, Chris Brownlee and David Tayles (skip) defeated Jayde Leech’s team 29/26. Bob Cole, Mary Firth, Jan Aubrey and Steve Barr (skip) defeated Alex Muirhead’s team 28/16.

Division four: Drouin (3) 4/79 lost to Warragul (3) 16/94.

Although Drouin lost, this was a mostly even contest with two rinks up and two down.

Dini Hone, Margaret Rhodes, Gwen Price and Peter Hone (skip) lost to Keith Wilkins’ team 10/32. Max Hine, Mary Andrews, Margaret Owens and Lloyd Smith (skip) defeated Greg Mitchell’s team 23/20. Ian Haughton, Ray Watson, Tom Lawler and Clive Newman (skip) lost to David Gatewood’s team 20/24. John Bickerdike, Richard Joyner, Elaine Thorpe and Lyn Jeffrey (skip) defeated Bill Clark’s team 26/18.
