Feltham knock topples Iona
Western Park 6/137 (dec) def Iona 126
A scintillating innings from Adam Feltham has seen Western Park beat Iona on the weekend.
Resuming on 3-31 with 96 still left to chase, Feltham and Lane Ward (23) put on the telling partnership of the day, pushing the Warriors within striking distance of the total.
Wade Haysom (3-38) tried his best to keep his side in it, but the Swamp Tigers lacked penetration, and despite several late wickets falling, Feltham’s boundary-hitting and overall class proved too much for his opponents- as Western Park won with four wickets remaining. Catani 196 def Longwarry 83
Catani has continued their reign of terror on Division 2, demolishing Longwarry on the weekend.
Resuming on 1-53 with just 31 required for victory, Catani was elated to have the opportunity to play and capture all six points and did so quite easily. Once the score was past, the league leaders piled on the runs as they so often do, as a bevy of contributors pushed the home side to a terrific total of 196.
Ross Douglas (47), Mitch Gregson (28) and Tyler Molloy (26) were just a few names who found crucial form in this pivotal time of the year, as they faced a stern test from the likes of Dom Pullen (3-32) and Bob Wilkinson (3-37) who were the best of the bowlers on a tough day for Longwarry.
Garfield-Tynong 8/210 (dec) def Hallora 84 & 7/90
Garfield-Tynong has fallen just short of outright victory over Hallora on the weekend.
Resuming having already claimed the six points last week, Matthew Dodman (75) fell short of his impending century early in the day, before a major collapse saw the Titans slip to 8-137.
Luckily, two old heads- Sean Somers (38*) and Tate Burgmann (31*) were able to add a substantial partnership, as Garfield-Tynong declared their innings closed on 8-210, giving themselves time to go for the outright.
Alex Henshall (3-38) and Sam Whibley (352) were easily the pick of the bowlers on a tough day for Hallora and it got little better when they batted.
Only Brayden Notman (27) made an innings of note as the Kangas looked to stave off humiliation, batting 40 tense overs as they finished at 7-90, with the reliable Daniel Glen (323) once again the man for the home side to cause the issues.
