Warragul Evening CWA Club Notes...
It was great for members to finally catchup with each other for a barbecue team at the home of president Gwen Mason.
Two new future members were able to go along and enjoyed the evening. The chatter that was heard all night certainly showed how everyone enjoyed the catch up.
During lockdown members kept their fingers busy with little knitted teddies sent to Frankston Hospital who were most grateful and 27 teddies distributed locally.
Heart shaped comfort pads for neo natal were sent to WGH. Some crocheted knee rugs are going to local nursing homes, others sent to CWA’s International and Community Committee at Melbourne headquarters.
Goods of all types are sorted and distributed in Melbourne. Baby clothes were gratefully received at the St John of God Hospital in Berwick.
The branch also sent trauma dolls, prem baby clothes and knee rugs which are distributed where needed most; and made calico trauma dolls for children in hospital, prem baby clothes etc.
Baby clothes were also gratefully accepted at St John of God’s midwifery ward.
Two bags of second-hand bras will be taken to Melbourne to be sent to women in the South Pacific Islands.
There also have been calls have been for old reading and sunglasses with or without cases, in Melbourne for distribution.
After the fun and laughter a short meeting was held and delegates were chosen for the group conference to be held on February 20.
Syllabus ideas were forthcoming and discussed. As February is “Shrove Tuesday” pancakes will be the early supper for the evening. Small craft magnetic hats will be made with all needs supplied.
The group meets at CWA House, 95 Victoria St, hopefully with the COVID advice allowing. Arrive at 7.15 for 7.30pm. New members welcome. Contact Gwen (5623 6114) if interested.
