Longwarry fall to RSL

Longwarry Div 1 travelled to Traralgon on Saturday to play Traralgon RSL and whilst competitiv­e on all rinks, were unable to get over the line with RSL too strong on the day winning by 28 shots.

Longwarry Div 6 travelled to Morwell to play Morwell Club and had a good 22 shot win.

Division 1 – Longwarry 0/76 defeated by Traralgon RSL 20/102

Hank Lieshout, Peter Lieshout, Jason Lieshout and Trevor Lieshout (Skip) defeated by Beau Williamson’s team 21/25. The newly formed “dutch” connect rink were in the game all day and lead 19/18 on end 20, but were unable to finish off with RSL winning four of the last five ends to win by four shots.

Brian Hennessey, Mark Serong, Barry White and Russell White (Skip) defeated by Rick Lukey’s team 20/28.

In a tight contest for the majority of the day, RSL picked up a six on end 15 and a four on the final end to stop Longwarry’s chances of winning and take an eight shot win.

Ken White, Glenn Pask, Matt Eccles and Adam Proctor (Skip) defeated by Maurice Gardiner’s team 14/23.

In another game that was close up until end 21, RSL finished the better picking up six shots in the last four ends to win by nine.

Elio Meggetto, Grant Pask, Ian Peterson and Ken Towt (Skip) defeated by Ross Sizeland’s team 19/26.

Longwarry started well and lead 7/4 by end seven, but then RSL won 13 shots in the next six ends to set up their seven shot win.

Division 6

Longwarry 8/59 defeated Morwell Club 2/37

Reg Dunn, Brian Mason, Vicki Hanks and Simon Counsel (Skip) defeated Bobby Pelchen’s team 33/10.

In a tight contact early up until end 10, Longwarry with Brian in the form of his life won 13 of the next 15 ends to record a convincing 23 shot win.

Sharon Twite, Ron Sutton, Judy Eastwell and John Elliott (Skip) defeated by Donny White’s team 26/27.

In a ding dong battle all day, Longwarry took a one shot lead into the last end, but unfortunat­ely lost 2 shots on the last end to lose by one shot in a great game.
