Off the Leash heads down a Rabbit Hole

-

Drama will make its long-awaited return to the West Gippsland Arts Centre when local company Off the Leash Theatre opens “Rabbit Hole” on Thursday, February 25.

Off the Leash Theatre said it was excited to bring this immersive and deep award-winning drama to Warragul with five shows over four days.

President Tracey Rabl said “Rabbit Hole” was just a week out from opening last year when coronavirus hit.

“The cast and production team have stuck together for the last year and we’ve kept it on our program,” said Tracey. “It’s the first drama at the arts centre since COVID.”

Tracey urged the company took a financial hit last year and urged the community to come out and enjoy this quality show to ensure the future of local theatre.

The talented five-person cast contains familiar and new faces. It features Todd Miller as Howie, Julie Strini as Becca, Megan Kenny as

Izzy, Tracey MacDonald as Nat and newcomer Lachlan Waters doing his first Off the Leash show as Jason.

It is directed by Annette O’Shea with assistance from Jasmin O’Shea.

“Rabbit Hole” examines how a picture-perfect family in the suburbs deals with grief and learns what it means to live a fruitful life when things fall apart.

“It’s really beautiful and handled very tastefully,” said Tracey.

The play by David Lindsay-Abaire, was adapted into a film of the same name starring Nicole Kidman in 2010.

Shows will be held in the arts centre’s theatre two space on Thursday, February 25 at 8pm; Friday, February 26 at 8pm; Saturday, February 27 at 2pm and 8pm; and Sunday, February 28 at 2pm.

Tickets are $38 for adults and concession and $33 for members, youth and groups.
