- By Adam Johnson Division 5:

Iona 9/184 vs Garfield-Tynong

A five-wicket haul to Garfield-Tynong’s Craig Murray has kept Iona to a below par total. Murray (5/78) claimed the first three wickets after the Swamp Tigers got off to a steady start. Important breakthroughs from Archer Burgmann (2/15) had the home side in trouble at 5/82 before Cecil Haysom rallied with an important 50. Jarryd Bain (51) kept the scorers busy late into the afternoon before being cleaned up by Darren Vandenberg who finished up with 2/71.

Longwarry 10/186 vs Bunyip 8/87

Bunyip are in real trouble after day one of their match up with Longwarry. Sending the home team in the Bulls ran through the Crows to have them all out in the 39th over. Mat Dare was the chief destroyer claiming 5/52 off ten overs. New ball partner Adam Barton snared 2/31 while Ben Sharpe chimed in with 2/28. In reply there were ominous signs early as the visitors lost 2/0. Dare and Jerry Whibley both made aggressive starts, Dare crunching five boundaries and two maximums on his way to 35. Whibley struck four boundaries before holing out on 21. With another 100 runs needed and two wickets in hand Bunyip will need something special on day two to even get close.

Warragul 10/175 vs Hallora

Warragul and Hallora are evenly matched after day one of their contest at Logan Park. Sending the home side in Hallora struck an early blow with Rafferty Visser (2/46) claiming the first wicket. Vaneet Singh and Priyank Saini steadied for the Gulls with a 73-run partnership before Saini was the next man out for 40. Singh kept the scoreboard ticking over as he amassed 10 boundaries on his way to a third-half century for the season before eventually falling for 62. Cruising at 5/161 the wheels suddenly fell off for the home side as they lost 5/14 to be all out late in the day. Gary Donoghue was the catalyst for the dramatic collapse snaring five wickets in another miserly return that saw him finish with 5/21 off thirteen overs.
