Classical prom

-

Two of Australia’s finest classical musicians Sharon and Slava Grigoryan will combine for a recital in Foster.

The event has been organised by newly formed group Prom Recitals, scheduled for Sunday, December 5 at 2.30pm.

Sharon and Slava Grigoryan will collaborate their talents to present a concert for guitar and cello featuring works by Vivaldi and Granados, as well as a selection from their ARIA nominated debut album.

The success of any collaboration is dependent on a myriad of factors, some obvious, others less tangible. Sharon and Slava are an example of such a synergy, resulting in music that connects deeply with the listener.

Perhaps their union professionally and in life provides the intangible factor fuelling their passionate and sensitive performances.

Their repertoire spans cultures, generations and genres – from standard works for guitar and cello to creations by contemporary composers, their own compositions and arrangements which shine a new light on familiar favourites.

Slava is an acknowledged guitar master on the world stage.

Sharon has forged a formidable career throughout Australia, performing with

all major symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles, including her recent seven-year tenure with the Australian String Quartet.

The duo’s debut album “Our Place” (ABC) was nominated for best classical album at the 2020 ARIA Awards.

Prom Recitals is a group of South Gippsland locals sharing a love of music and their part of the world who wish to bring together local and visitors to prom country through the presentation of classical music recitals. It also aims to develop school and community programs in South Gippsland.

Tickets for the recital at Foster War Memorial Arts Centre are $55 per person. Bookings can be made at trybooking.com/BTEZM.
