Drouin

Drouin’s run of wretched golfing luck has continued unabated over the last two weeks, disrupting the resumption of competitive golf.

Firstly, the club facilities were closed two weekends ago for deep cleaning, meaning that our first opportunity for competition golf after restrictions eased were dashed.

Last Friday’s storm saw our course littered with tree-damage and debris, just as we were able to welcome back our metropolitan members. Added to this, the extended power-outage left the club with no electricity supply. This meant that our on-line scoring system was unable to function.

At the time of publication, no results for Saturday are available. One recorded highlight was Ryan Hammond’s hole-in-one on the 8th, slam-dunking his ball into the hole on the fly from 174 metres.

27th October Men’s Stableford. Competition golf made its return mid-week in glorious Spring weather. Having received higher than average rain over the first two months of Spring it was great to see the course firm up as the club got set to welcome back its metropolitan based members.

Division One: Winner - Ken Cooper (14) 37 points, on c/b from Phil Thomson (7) 37, Peter Mitchell (4) 34, Craig Armstrong (9) 33, Matthew Roberts (11) 33, Gilbert Davis (11) 33

Division Two: Winner - Ray Hayley (18) 41 points, from John Banfield (Churchill&Monash 21) 38, Jim Bransgrove (15) 38, Shane Gorman (20) 37, Duart Perrin (15) 37, Graham Rawson (18) 36, Eddy Ven Der Pligt (18) 36.

Division Three: Winner - Neil

Wyatt (22) 36 points, from Jex Mitchard (25) 34, Peter De Vries (24) 34, Richard Snare (26) 34, Graham Moon (23) 34.

DTL Balls: John Banfield, Jim Bransgrove, Shane Gorman, Phil Thomson, Duart Perrin, Graham Rawson, Eddy Van Der Pligt. Median score: 31 points.

Next Wednesday is Stableford, and Saturday is Monthly Medal Stroke.

Drouin Ladies were back in swing with competition golf recommencing in glorious sunshine last Tuesday. The winner of the individual stableford event was Sue Hatfield (29) with 36 points. Runner up was Shirley Roberts (12) with 34.

Down the line balls went to Marg Purcell (18) 30 points and Helen Moon (29) 27 points.

Nearest the pins were: 5th – Val Crow, 8th – Val Crow and 14th Sue Hatfield and no-one managed to get on the 8th.

Melbourne Cup day is a Stableford event for both Men and Women and after a long wait, we welcome back our metro members.

Next Tuesday 9th November will be our first medal day for months. It is also the Star Medal play off, kindly sponsored by Jill Greenland. That day is also the qualifier for the Summer match play for the top 8 in both A and B Grades.

Ladies golf clinics with PGA Professional Anthony Bambridge are coming up. Weekly sessions commence Tuesday 16th November and weekends Saturday 13th November. $60 for 4 sessions. Great opportunity for anyone wishing to start or get back into golf. Contact Anthony at the club 0356254985 for more details.
