Mixed results for Strikers

There were mixed results for the two junior Striker teams on Friday night. The highlight was the under 16 girls taking on the ladder leaders St Kilda Powerhouse.

They knew it would be a hard battle and it was certainly a very physical and bruising game. St Kilda got off to an early lead before the Strikers started surging.

Three goals in a row totally demoralised the opposition.

The play of the game was started by Marisah with a beautiful cross-field pass to the lead of Regi who laid it off to Jenna who then passed it to her younger sister Leandra to slam it home.

In the second half, the Strikers continued their dominance until a goal was overruled and the momentum shifted.

St Kilda started to score and tempers continued to rise. In the end, it was the Strikers who held on for a fantastic 4-3 win and to take the top position on the ladder.

Goal scorers were Leandra McLauchlan with two, and Jenna McLauchlan and Bianca Zurrer with one each. The girls are to be commended for their calmness under intense pressure.

The under 18s lost top position after losing against KBH.

They were missing almost half their team and had to call in two new recruits to help with numbers - Hannah and Ruth, who they thanked for joining.

They knew it would be an uphill battle against the next best team in the league and despite trying valiantly all night the Brumbies were just too good running out big winners 9-0

Under 12s

Warriors 2 defeated Aztecs 0. The goal scorers were Zali Gordon and Avashi.

Gulls 11 defeated Drouids 0. Goal Scorers were Brady Cake with three, Caleb Ballentyne and Jacob Mock two and one each to Liam Finger, Lucy Tepper and Olivia Camier.

Under 15s

Aztecs 4 defeated Warriors 0. Goal Scorers were Timothy McDonald, Cailen Thomas, Chanae Bone and Kailey Bone.

Drouids 6 defeated Gulls 0. Goal Scorers were Harry Coster with three, Hamish Zurrer two and Cailen Thomas with one.

Under 18s

Aztecs 5 defeated Warriors 0. Monique McAskill scored three and Charlie Coster and Harry Coster scored one each.

Women': Aztecs 21 defeated Warriors 0. Gull 5 defeated Drouids 1.

Mens: Warriors 8 defeated Aztecs 1. Gulls 6 defeated Drouids 2.
