Parrots too strong for Gulls
Warragul netballers came close, but not quite close enough, to claiming victory at Burke St netball courts against Leongatha on Saturday.
A grade: Warragul 36 lost to Leongatha 67
A strong hit out by the Warragul girls but they were unable to get the four points.
Consistent hard work from goalers Jaime Rollinson and Ella Rees kept the Gulls in the game.
Warragul’s defensive pressure all over the court never dropped off, but Leongatha put up a strong front that they were unable to match.

B grade: Warragul 37 lost to Leongatha 65
Leongatha were too strong for Warragul on Saturday.
The first half from the Gulls was competitive, with some impressive netball across the court by all players.
Unfortunately, Warragul was not strong enough to carry this over four quarters against a hard, physical Leongatha side.
Best on: Cara Gavin.

C grade: Warragul 31 lost to Leongatha 34
A very close game for the Gulls who fought all the way to the last second.
The strong defensive efforts of Talarna Olsen and Emily Hobbs never dropped off, with their turnovers utilised by goalers Kim Weller and Bella Hefford.
Unfortunately, time was not on the Gulls’ side, going down narrowly with Leongatha scoring in the last 30 seconds. A great effort by all.

17 and under: Warragul 25 lost to Leongatha 31
The game between Leongatha and Warragul started off very strong. It was goal-for-goal until the Parrots were able to pull away in the third quarter.
The Gulls worked tirelessly to convert off their well fought for intercepts, and saw themselves fight back to have a even quarter with Leongatha. Unfortunately, the girls went down by six, but there were great positives to take out of the game.
15 and under: Warragul 11 lost to Leongatha 67
Not an ideal day for Warragul, losing to a skilled Leongatha side.
A strong performance was brought forward in the midcourt by best on court Edie Flanagan. She displaying great control over the game, proving to be a nuisance for the Leongatha defence.
Elisha Dalton and Milla Tworkowski also received awards for their positive attitudes that continued throughout the four quarters.
13 and under: Warragul 21 lost to Leongatha 27
The Gulls displayed great teamwork in both defence and attack, applying pressure and challenging the opposition.
The team continues to strengthen and build in confidence each week.
Best on: Audrey Simpson for her great positioning and accuracy in the goal ring.
Awards: Rharni Cooper for her determination and Stella Looby for her versatility in the midcourt and goals.
