Three wins for Warragul

Warragul ended the season with three wins on the netball court against Bairnsdale on Saturday.

A grade: Warragul 36 defeated Bairnsdale 34

A very close game saw the girls fight all the way to the final buzzer to come away with a great win.

Mia McGarrity worked tirelessly through the mid court to create space and options all the way down the court, with Bronte Harvey shutting down the very talented Bairnsdale goalers.

B grade: Warragul 45 defeated Bairnsdale 36

The Gulls finished the season with a confident win over Bairnsdale. A strong performanc­e by the whole team with lots of positives to take away in readiness for 2023.

C grade: Warragul 43 defeated Sale 34

An incredible end to an already great season for the C graders.

Warragul came out firing from the first whistle and did not stop until the final siren.

Defender Emily Hobbs and Hannah Hodge kept the Bairnsdale girls in check whilst goalers Bella Hefford and Kim Weller scored off every turn over.

A great confidence boost for the girls as they head into finals next week.

17 and under: Warragul 36 lost to Bairnsdale 46

A slow start by the 17s saw them tailing behind Bairnsdale by six goals. Gulls came out firing in the second quarter with the likes of Maci James and Ava McGarrity being able to score 14 goals between the two.

This saw the girls win the quarter, however Bairnsdale were just too good on the day and won by 10 goals.

15 and under: Warragul 11 lost to

Bairnsdale 56

A tough day of netball for the Warragul under 15s. The best on Elysia Dalton, displayed great skill in the goal ring and defence, proving to be a handful at both ends of the court.

Mackenzie Heenan and Ella Black also received awards for their relentless determinat­ion against a successful Bairnsdale side.

A high standard of netball was displayed ending the season on a high.

13 and under: Warragul 20 lost to Bairnsdale 35

A great final game for the team, applying defensive pressure and displaying great teamwork. Although the team was missing some of its members, so no one had time to rest, they were fortunate to have the valuable assistance of a couple of younger players.

Best on: Stella Looby for her skill in the goal ring.
