Lang Lang fourths hold onto finals spot

- By Keith Anderson

Lang Lang maintained fifth spot in the under 16 finals on percentage from Trafalgar despite the Bloods winning the clash between the sides on Saturday.

Trafalgar were one win behind Lang Lang going into the match but the percentage gap of 24 was far too much to make up.

Although scoreless in the last quarter on Saturday the Bloods hung on to win 6-5 to 4-5.

Better players for Trafalgar were Isaac Caraleon, Owen McLeod-Agland, Memphis McQualter, Oliver Hennessy and Oliver McQualter with the six goals spread among six players.

Lang Lang's best were Jack Stockx, with two the only multiple goalkicker in the game, Liam Casey, Ashton Townley, Millan Parolin, Ty Thom and Diesel Bonaddio.

Ellinbank had put the result of its clash with Neerim South beyond doubt by half time.

It led 8-1 to 1-6 at the long break and despite adding only 1-1 for the rest of the game won comfortbaly, 9-2 to 3-9.

Ripley Pyle was best for the winners along with Vincent Onslow, who kicked five of the goals, Luke Carbon, Blake Handley, Lucas

Tyrell and Calen Kriesl.

Max Williames, Isaac Guy, Patrick Sheehan, Hayden Scott, Keegan Friedlander and Kyson Cornwall were Neerim South's best.

The loss did not affect South's hold on third spot and a qualifying final berth while the Eagles will play in the elimination final.

Second placed Yarragon had a big win against Poowong.

The final score was 15-17 to 2-2, both of the Magpies' goals coming in the last quarter.

Jack Keeble, Jordan Edwards, Ty Keeble, Josh Garratt, Darcy Paul and William Kent were best with the principal goalkickers being Zavier Allsopp and Liam Smith-Butterworth, each with three, and Bailey Fallon and Andrew Daly two each.

For Yarragon, the goal scorers Bryce Townsend and Jett Blackwood were named in the best along with William Dourley, Ryder Dowlan, Troy Nieuwerth and Matthew Heywood.

Longwarry, one of three teams that had a bye on Saturday, finished on top of the ladder and won't play again next weekend as it awaits the winner of the qualifying final between Ellinbank and Lang Lang.
