Dairy expo takes centre stage
The Strzelecki Lions Club will present the South Gippsland Dairy and Farming Expo in Korumburra on September 7 and 8.
This year the club celebrates more than 21 years of providing the local dairying community with an event showcasing the latest innovations, products, and services available to the dairy industry.
Funds raised from the Dairy Expo have helped the Strzelecki Lions Club distribute more than $600,000 back into the community and Lions projects.
Planning for the Dairy Expo starts in January each year, and the committee meets monthly until the last week before the event to ensure all the plans are in place.
Farmers attending the expo this year will have an opportunity to win $5000 in the Udder Truth Show bag competition. The rules are simple, collect a show bag at the gate, answer 17 of the 20 questions and request your card to be stamped by the corresponding exhibitor.
The first card drawn with 17 correct answers, with the exhibitor stamps, will respectively win $3000 first prize; $1500 second prize and third prize $500.
Participants must be farmers and over 18 years of age. The lucky winner’s announcement
will be at 2.30pm on September 8.Matt Harms from OnFarm, is hosting a session called “Are you seen as an employer of Formula One standard?”
Matt is back by popular demand on September 7 at 11am. Panel members include Kongwak dairy farmer Andrew Perry; Dennison farm employee Jasmine Kneebone; Leongatha farm manager Lachlan Hams; Tamara Loughridge, Poowong farm employee Tamara Loughridge; and , Kongwak farm employee Matt Taylor.

The keynote
Former champion St Kilda footballer and current AFLW Western Bulldogs coach Nathan Burke will present the keynote presentation on September 8 at 11am.
Nathan will share his experiences about “Achieving your goals and relying on other people to deliver.”
The Gumboot Gift will be held at 1pm on September 8 when the prestigious 120-metre gumboot footrace will take place.
It is a must-see and do event with both male and female sections with a prize pool of $4000.
The Dairy Expo will be held from 10am to 3pm both days, entry is $15 per person; children under 16 years old are free.
