CASEIN FACTORY

-

An industry of far reaching possibilities is about to be established in Warragul. Mr E. Foster, managing director, of the Vermont Casein Coy. Pty Ltd., has been in Warragul for some time making arrangements for the supply of milk. These being guaranteed, a very fine factory is to be erected on a site in Queen-street east, beyond the Commercial hotel.

A large block of land has been purchased, and a reinforced concrete factory will shortly be commenced. The modern plant will deal with 1000 gallons of milk a day to start. This milk will be separated, the cream of superfine quality will be given back to the farmer, as well as one half-penny per gallon for the total milk supplied.

In addition to this, the company offers as an earnest of co-operation to allocate a porting of the profits to the supplier, when the price of casein is above £65 a ton. It has been up to £90.

The company has a capital of £50,000, its shareholders being farmers, and associated with the celebrated Byron Bay Coy. and North Coast Coy. or N.S.W. the largest dairying company in the world.

At first, only raw product casein will be produced. Later on it is the intention of Mr. Foster, the managing director, to commence the manufacture of combs, knife handles, tooth brushes, billiard balls and many other useful items in daily demand.

It looks like the beginning of secondary industries to be established in Warragul. Mr Foster isa co-director with Mr Cottee, who recently purchased through Mr Kimber the “Birchgrove” fine property and settled his two sons on it.
