Division two

Western Park v Garfield-Tynong

Despite a nervy chase, Western Park has held on to defeat Garfield-Tynong and claim their first victory of the season.

Bowling first, the Parkers found the going tough early as the classy Matt Dodman (53) and Isaac Braaksma (39) pushed the total to 1-112, setting up a sensational platform. However, the lower order didn't hold up their end of the bargain as Dave Burn (5-26) turned back the clock, while Tyler McMillan (2-18) was at his wily best to hold the total to just 8-133.

In reply, the home side were cruising early through Matt Roberts (25), however a bevy of starts and a collapse of 4-15 through the middle, spurred by Chris Denipitiya (2-19), AK Rangajith (2-26) and Will Pickering (2-34), left the game on a knife's edge. It was up to both the old in Jeff Walsh (23) and Dale Fawcett (23) and the young in Jack Walsh (12*) to see the home side home, as they crept over the line by three wickets.

Buln Buln v Iona

One of the craziest matches you'll ever see has seen Iona scratch out a dramatic victory over Buln Buln.

Batting first away from home, the potent Iona batting line-up was absolutely blown out of the water, with the premiership favourites succumbing to the former A grade attack.

Andrew Burdett (4-14) and Dane Hammond (3-19) caused the chaos, with the pair (along with three runouts) routing the Swamp Tigers for a barely believable total of 64. In reply, it was seemingly going to be an extremely early day for the Lyrebirds as they were expecting a massive percentage booster, but even with Wilson Pollock (13) and brother Devin (10) anchoring the top of the order, Buln crumbled in a heap.

Iona, in fact, only needed two bowlers to dismiss the entire side, as Wade Haysom (5-24) and Jay Riley (4-18) ensured Buln only survived just 78 legal deliveries - the home side embarrassingly falling to 42 all out in a game that is unlikely to be repeated in a decade.

Ellinbank v Warragul

Warragul has staked their claim as the team to beat, as they trounced a struggling Ellinbank on the weekend.

Losing the toss and bowling, the Gulls made use of overcast skies as Todd Mann wreaked havoc early. The champion quick couldn't believe his luck, as he had full access to an extremely vulnerable top order and took full advantage, shattering stumps on his way to 4-8.

Eddie McGillivray (2-15) also chipped in with a couple of wickets, as Ellinbank were 6-26 at one stage. Liam Finnegan (23) and Lucas Plozza (19) were at least able to extend the game, however they only managed to push the score to a measly 74 all out.

In reply, the Gulls weren't hanging around as they polished off the total before drinks. Matt Runnalls (36*) was the pick of the batsmen, while Todd Mann (18) and Paddy Mulqueen (14*) also chipped in to see their side to an eight-wicket win.

Jindivick v Hallora

Hallora claimed a second win on the trot, easily accounting for Jindivick on the weekend.

Bowling first, the Kangas never looked in massive danger as only Christian Stacey (27) passed 25, with the Jumping Jacks needing several smaller contributors to reach a parscore of 7-138 from a reduced 38 overs.

For the visitors, Lachie Pratt (2-17), Steve Fox (2-21) and Ben Sharpe (2-26) all chipped in with the ball, however they only needed one big contributor with the bat as coach Mitch Smith did the damage. The stocky right-hander made 61 not out in a quick-fire chase, as Hallora reached the target in just 28 overs - the lack of talent on the Jumping Jack bowling attack shining through, as their lack of penetration resigned them to a second consecutive loss.
