Get Online and try something new with Myli

-

On Monday, 17 October, Get Online Week 2022 kicks off across Australia, with more than 500 community organisations holding free events to support thousands of Australians to ‘Try One Thing’ online.

Myli Warragul Library will have extra staff available between October 17 - 21 to provide intensive assistance.

Get Online Week is a campaign organised by the Good Things Foundation aiming to close the digital divide. 1 in 4 Australians are digitally excluded, and less than 40% of Aussies are confident that they can keep up with the rapid pace of tech changes.

For people more at risk of digital exclusion, such as older people, people with disability, low income families and First Nations people, this rate is even higher.

Being digitally included means having affordable access to the internet and the skills and confidence to use it safely.

If the last two years have taught us anything, it’s how vital this is for work, school, staying connected with loved ones, and for our health and wellbeing.

Assistance during Get Online Week is not limited to ‘getting online’.

Our friendly team can also help you to access library apps and online resources, answer tech questions and show patrons how to use their tech devices.

They can also provide an opportunity to learn about the benefits of the internet and how to feel safer and more confident online.

Extra staff will be available Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 2pm, and an appointment is not required.

Anyone can pop into the library throughout the day during Get Online Week. Please note that wait times may apply during busy periods.

Myli will also host Get Online Week assistance sessions at their library branches in Korumburra and Wonthaggi.

Mirboo North Library will host the first session of Digital Storytelling workshops with Michael Green from Drift Media which will also run at Korumburra, Leongatha and Foster Libraries during October and November.

Myli Warragul Library is located at 75 Victoria Street, Warragul. Get Online Week is funded by Be Connected Network, a Federal Government Initiative.
