Warragul disappointment
It was a disappointing start to the Warragul Bowling Club’s pennant season on Saturday.
The division one team lost to Traralgon RSL at home, the division three team lost at Newborough and the division four team lost at Yallourn North.
Division one: Warragul lost to Traralgon RSL 60/107

Bob Currie (skip), Jim Moyle, Russ Carrick and Brian Barby defeated Heather Mooney’s team 19/14.
Division four: Warragul (3) lost to Yallourn North 72/94
Brent Grigg (skip), Michael Cousens, Sharon Bull and Warren Hobson lost to Robert Matthews’ team 13/34. Lester Mason (skip), Marg Keeffe, Ken Brown and Clive Padgham defeated John Wasiukiewicz’s team 31/14. Bill Clark (skip), Barry Downer, Freda Lay and May Baldwin lost to Ricky Hearn’s team 12/23. Gary Thomas (skip), Bruce Thompson, Henny Schreyer and John Bell lost to Darren Fry’s team 16/23.
Showing the need for improvement is the fact that three Warragul teams gave up scores of seven shots on a single end. But for a saving shot, another team came perilously close to joining them. Getting bowls in the head must be the top aim for Warragul’s bowlers.
