Working from home

-

In today’s day and age, it is now very common to find yourself working from home. Whilst this was once a very rare and difficult to accomplish feat, with technology it is now a very viable and long-term option for many industries.

Here are a few tips to make the most of your working from home setup:

Use multiple monitors. Once you have experienced the productivity increases, you can never go back!

If you use a laptop, consider adding a dock. This allows you to connect monitors, keyboard, mice, and power to the dock. All you have to do is connect your laptop with one cable and you will have a full office-like setup.

If you require access to your work PC, there are various options available. This may be as simple as using software like Teamviewer or Anydesk to log into your work PC.

For access to data and software from home, there are many other more secure and scalable technologies such as VPN, Remote Desktop and Citrix servers. Implementing or improving these technologies can actually be very cost affective for most businesses. They allow for simple and complete access to internal work

IT resources as if you were sitting in the office.

Keep a steady flow of communication with other staff by using software like Microsoft Teams or Slack. Consistent communication is key to keeping informed and feeling like part of the team.

Ensure your home computers are well protected with Anti-malware software and ensure you maintain good password and security standards. For added security, try to maintain separation between work and personal data. If possible, a separate computer dedicated for work purposes is ideal.

Where possible, try to use ethernet over WIFI. Connecting your computer via a wired ethernet cable will give you a more reliable, and often faster connection.

Invest in a comfy, well postured chair.

Stay active and go for regular walks. Keeping healthy will help maintain motivation and keep you feeling fresh.
