Drouin’s top team had an important win over arch rival Trafalgar in division one pennant on Saturday.

The win puts Drouin in top spot on the ladder.

A big shout out to the club’s division six team who had a big 32-shot win over Newborough. It was a great result considerin­g there are only two rinks in this division.

Divisions two and five both had losses, with division five down by just four shots.

Division one: Drouin 14/91 defeated Trafalgar 4/78

Bruce Andrews, Clive Newman, Denise Hamilton and Dale Hendrick (skip) lost to Matt Schreyer’s team 24/25. David McIlfatric­k, John Leighton, Mick Fleming and Mark Atkinson (skip) defeated Tim Fraser’s team 33/13. Maureen Leighton, Jan Aubrey, Les Firth and Sheryl Atkinson (skip) lost to Ian Miles’ team 13/26. Steve Barr, Geoff Bailey, Toby Wallace and Samantha Atkinson (skip) defeated William McIlwain’s team 21/14.

Division two: Drouin (2) 2/65 lost to Traralgon RSL (2) 16/91

Alex Miller, Elaine Thorpe, Norm Dickson and Brian Thorpe (skip) lost to Ron Osler’s team 11/29. Bob Cole, Ron Douthie, Necip Akarsu and Arthur Moore (skip) defeated Gordon Bakker’s team 19/15. Don Mowat, Mary Firth, Graeme Aubrey and Col Jeffrey (skip) lost to Gordon Asbury’s team 16/20. Neil Radford, Wayne Hawken, Andy Kidd and David Tayles (skip) lost Max Gibbins’ team 19/27.

Division five: Drouin (3) 2/50 lost to Longwarry (2) 14/54

Dini Hone, Gary Watts, Margaret Owens and Lyn Jeffrey (skip) lost to Vicki Hanks’ team 14/23. Jim Purvis, Wayne Walsh, Rudy Kerkvliet and Peter Hone (skip) defeated Sean Garritty’s team 28/9. Margaret Rhodes, Richard Joyner, Andre De Waele and Mary Andrews (skip) lost to Gerard Mitchell’s team 8/22.

Division six: Drouin (4) 10/52 defeated Newborough (5) 0/20

Pauline Dixon, Peter McGrath, Maureen McMillan and Lloyd Smith (skip) defeated Joan Lee’s team 24/11. Bev Walsh, Robert Dickson, Merv Appleyard and Irene Dawson (skip) defeated Betty Williams’ team 28/9.

Midweek

Drouin’s top team had a busy week, playing two games. The first was played at Traralgon after rescheduli­ng of the round one contest. The second, its round three fixture, was played at Warragul.
