Drouin to top in junior badminton
The Mid Gippsland Junior Badminton Association played round five this week. B grade
This week’s teams were:
Team One: Archer Thorne, Tim McDonald, Bailey Huntingford, Tom Hansford.
Team Two: Rouan White, Aaron Cromie, Suley Shamsi, Harley Huntingford.
Team One with 283 aces and seven games defeated Team Two with 224 aces and three games.
The doubles game of the week was the one and three doubles with Archer and Bailey defeating Rouan and Suley 30/29.
In the singles game of the week Rouan defeated Archer 30/29.
C grade
Labertouche 202/4 defeated Ellinbank Blue 160/2, Drouin 268/4 defeated Ellinbank Gold 252/2 and Warragul has a bye.
D grade
Warragul Warriors 117/6 defeated Warragul Ninjas 78/1.
Warragul Ninjas 112/4 defeated Drouin 108/3.
Warragul Warriors 126/7 defeated Drouin 75/0.
C/D game of the week:
Game of the week was C grade between Drouin and Ellinbank Gold with three doubles that went to three sets and a difference of only 16 aces for the whole game.
In the one and two doubles Nathan Young and Ben Nash defeated Jim Thorne and Taj Goodrope 23/21, 17/21, 21/14.
In the one and three doubles Nathan and Will Kelly were defeated by Jim and Ben Parsons 14/21, 21/13, 16/21.
In the two and three doubles Ben N. and Will defeated Ben P. and Taj 23/25, 25/23, 21/15.
In the singles, Jim defeated Nathan 30/27, Ben N. defeated Taj 30/27 and Will defeated Ben P. 30/21.
Little Smashes
This week saw six children turn up to play, as they each got to play four doubles games with different partners.
The first three games were played to 21 aces and as time began to run out the last three games were played to 11 aces.
Sophie Sheil earned 64 aces, Nau Nihal earned 62 aces, Morgan Fox earned 56 aces, Amrit Singh earned 46 aces and both Angus Pollock and Cooper Fox earned 41 aces each.
