Eagles win ressies thriller

ELLINBANK overcame a scare in the reserves, holding on over Trafalgar by just three-points.

The second-placed Eagles entered the contest favoured to notch their sixth win but were made to work by a Trafalgar side among the mid-pack battling for the lower reaches of the top five.

A late goal helped the home side hold on to win 7-5 (47) to 6-8 (44).

Each side traded blows, the Eagles heading into the first change with a 10-point advantage before the Bloods turned it around, leading a low scoring affair by six-points at the half time break.

Ellinbank would score three of the next four goals as the contest opened up in the third, the Eagles holding a nine-point lead at the final change.

Trafalgar would make another move, adding two goals, with only a final term steadier helping Ellinbank over the line.

Jack Cole, Tony Wright, Brayden Rintoule, Will O'Brien, Taj Irwin and Sam Barwick helping the Eagles hold firm.

NYORA held off Nilma-Darnum, winning 8-11 (59) to 4-5 (29).

The Saints kicked out to an early lead and while they were challenged at times, ensured the Bombers couldn't break inside a threegoal buffer.

Ryan Torelli, Rob Moxon, Connor Jester, Lincoln Brock and Brad Drews led the Saints to victory.

The better players for Nilma-Darnum were Christophe­r Demicoli, Rhonan Perry, Munashe Munjoma, Brady Einsiedel, Benjamin Egan and Christophe­r Cameron.

BULN BULN overcame an improving Catani, winning 8-13 (61) to 4-4 (28).

The Lyrebirds controlled the contest early and headed into the final change leading by 40-points, before the Blues played the game out to win the final quarter.

Bryce Monahan, Ricky McKerrow, Simon Dawson, Fynn Hammond, Thomas Jessup and Bailey Leatham helped Buln Buln keep control.

Catani were best served by Nicholas Cullen, Brad Adams, Maverick Kent, Nathaniel Rodda, Brayden Kennedy and Mitchell Smith.

NEERIM-NEERIM SOUTH were rarely troubled as they kicked away from Lang Lang, winning 12-14 (86) to 2-2 (14).

The Tigers challenged early, but their second goal would only come as a late consolatio­n.

Tom Zeldenryk, Adam White, Riley Ferguson, Harry Notman, Fletcher Robertson-Edgar and Blake Appleby helped the Cats to a strong win.

Brent Miller, Cayden Gowans, Jesse Hand, Alexander Brennan and Stanley Geyer were the better players for the Tigers.

YARRAGON were big winners over Poowong, 16-16 (112) to 5-3 (33).

The Panthers booted seven goals to one in the first term and while the Magpies improved, the visitor was still able to win each quarter.

Oliver Marek, Kallym Canobie, Heath Darcy, Hayden Favero, Michael Price and Clayton Bawden led the way for Yarragon.

Doing their best to stem the tide for Poowong were Tyran Lord, Joshua Hutton, Zach Townley, Jake Peacock, Tarkyn Taylor-Wilton and Jake Lewis.
