POOWONG and Yarragon played out a thrilling draw in Ellinbank District under 16s, finishing 6-8 (44) to 5-14 (44).

The match between seventh and eighth placed teams didn't disappoint, as both teams carried momentum swings through the contest.

Poowong held a slight edge throughout the first three quarters, before Yarragon came charging home to almost pinch the result.

The Magpies held a narrow five-point lead at the first change, increasing it to 10 points at the long break.

Trailing by nine points at the final change, the Panthers added the only goal of the final term to force the draw.

Jett Blackwood, Rory Nettle, Aaron Damon, Marty Cook, Gavin Monson and Johnathan Wilson held firm for the Magpies.

Willing the Panthers towards victory were Matthew Balfour, Rhys McDonald-Flegg, Seth Damschke, Adam Pickthall, Callum Kennedy and Ty Keeble.

BULN BULN prevailed in a tight tussle over Nilma-Darnum, winning by a solitary point.

The Bombers charged home in the second half, only to fall just short of pinching victory, the final score 5-7 (37) to 5-6 (36).

The Lyrebirds controlled the first half, entering the long break with an 18-point advantage.

The Bombers kicked the next three points to take the lead, only to fall just short in a final term that realised one goal apiece in a tense finish. Keegan James, Dane Hammond, Hamish Wells, Lachlan Budd and Charlie Lindau helped the Lyrebirds hold on.

Kade Rossboroug­h, Miller Ireland, Robert Arms, Jacob Egan, Archie Price and Connor Wettenhall led the second half charge for the Bombers.

ELLINBANK comfortabl­y accounted for Trafalgar to move to second on the ladder.

The Eagles kicked out to a 23-point advantage at half time and then held steady, an even second half between the second and third placed teams following.

Ayden Clarke, Jhy Good, Joel Armstrong, Hugh Cunningham, Charlie Armour and Bailey Helps led the way in Ellinbank's 8-5 (53) to 4-7 (31).

Trafalgar's best were Toby McCabe, Bastien Phillip Marshall, Isaac Caroleo, Angus Carlson, Caleb Wilson and Dylan van der Stoep.

NEERIM-NEERIM SOUTH remain on top of the ladder following victory over Lang Lang, 12-5 (77) to 5-5 (35).

The Tigers were competitiv­e in the first half, trailing by just 12-points at half time, before the Cats charged home with seven goals to two.

Kai Mounsey put in a best afield effort with seven goals, assisted by Jordan Franz, Braiden Curtis-Smith, Owen Findlater and Mitchell Dowling.

Helping the Tigers compete early were Jaeden Ward, Blake Lyon, Jack Stockx, Cohan Waixel and Tim Dyall.
