Dusties defeat Dolphins
The Warragul Industrials division one team hosted third-placed Frankston at Western Park on Sunday.
In a low-scoring thriller, the Dusties managed to wreak their revenge for their round two defeat to the Dolphins, winning 2.2 (14) to 1.5 (11)
Before the match the Dusties welcomed back several key players, but were still missing a few through injury.
The game was close throughout, as Frankston took the lead in the first quarter with a goal, the only score from either side for the term.
Warragul Industrials pressed their case for the next two quarters, breaking through for their first goal in the third term through Jess Szalek.
Going into the final term the margin stood at just two points the visitors' way.
In a tight last quarter the Dusties started to gain some momentum with repeat forward entries, each time threatening to take the lead. .
Eventually Dusties first-year player Molly Van Berkel marked the ball 25m, calmly slotting the goal to put the home team up by three points with just two minutes to go.
In a frantic final few minutes, both teams threw themselves at the contest, but when the siren went it was the Dusties who were able to hold on for a fantastic win.
The victory moves the Dusties to three and four with a firm hold on fourth spot on the ladder and will be key for the team's confidence going forward, having knocked off a side that had come into the match at five wins and just one loss.
With a bye next weekend the Dusties will then venture to Seaford.
Best on for Warragul Industrials were Nikia Webber, Lily Van Berkel, Monai Porykali, Sarah Elson, Jess Szalek and Molly Van Berkel.
The Warragul Industrials division two development side hosted Red Hill.
Despite missing a number of players it was a solid effort from the side, with plenty of defensive intensity despite going down 0.2 (2) to 5.5 (35).
The Dusties' best were Elly Brown, Shanara Notman, Tayla Cann, Jessica Kemp, Paige Hill and Bridie Finnegan.
