Bombers claim first win

IT was a momentous occasion at Nilma-Darnum on Saturday morning as the under 16 Bombers side celebrated their first win in a come from behind affair.

Poowong scored the first two goals of the match, before the Bombers kicked the next four goals to head into the final change leading by 16-points.

The Magpies made one final move, kicking two goals to one in the final term only to fall just short, 5-8 (38) to 4-8 (32).

Jackson Brown, Jaxon Cook, Patrick Brown, Kade Rossboroug­h, James Demicoli and Darcy Britt helped push the Bombers to victory.

Keeping the Magpies in the contest were Rory Nettle, Zachary Sherar, Johnathan Wilson, Gavin Monson, Jett Blackwood and Jordon Foote.

A STRONG first half set up Ellinbank's comfortabl­e victory over Lang Lang, 9-14 (68) to 5-2 (32).

The Eagles booted five goals to one to open a buffer at the long break. The Tigers then improved, with four goals apiece in the second half.

Hugh Cunningham, Blake Handley, Rhylee Stewart, Jhy Good, Luke Callewaert and Nate Murphy helped the Eagles to a fast start.

Leading a competitiv­e second half for the Tigers were Ty Thom, Jarrad Francome, Xavier Azzato, Jack Stockx, Tim Dyall and Diesel Bonaddio.

TRAFALGAR recorded a strong victory over Longwarry, 11-8 (74) to 4-6 (30).

Ten goals to two across the first three quarters ensured the match was in the Bloods' keeping at the final change, before the Crows won the final term with two goals to one.

Isaac Caroleo, Dylan van der Stoep, Brock Gill, Memphis McQualter, Archie Fraser and Brodie Gauci helped Trafalgar control the contest.

Longwarry were best served by Mitchell Grant, Tyler Hickford, Thomas Ball, Harrison Gilbert, Travis Gilbert and Josiah Macgraw.

NEERIM-NEERIM SOUTH were big winners over Yarragon, 20-19 (139) to 1-1 (7).

Four goals to nil in the first quarter sent the Cats on their way, the Panthers scoring a consolatio­n goal in the final term.

Kai Mounsey booted five goals, assisted by the likes of Bryson Stephens, Hayden Scott, Daniel Christian, Liam Sheehan and Lachlan Adams.

Yarragon's best were Ty Keeble, William Kemp, Seth Damschke, William Mills, Matthew Armstrong and Dane Jarvis.
