Tigers prevail in reserves

THE contest between second-placed Ellinbank and third-placed Lang Lang headlined round nine of the Ellinbank District reserves, with the Tigers prevailing in a competitiv­e affair.

The Eagles held a slight edge early, taking a narrow four-point lead into half time.

The Tigers responded in an important third quarter in determinin­g the result, booting three goals to one to take a narrow seven-point lead into the final change.

Lang Lang was able to hold on, adding two goals to one to win 7-7 (49) to 5-5 (35).

Helping the Tigers hold firm were Liam Edgar, Kobee Dore Wilson, Jesse Hand, Geordie Wells and Mark Penn.

Ellinbank's better players were Timothy Farthing, Justin Tylee, Ryan Carpenter, Sam Barwick, Nick Fairbank and Jayson Barwick.

TRAFALGAR kept Longwarry goalless on the way to winning 12-10 (82) to 0-3 (3).

Led by Connor Dastey, Kynan Noonan, Brett Cameron, Owen Zimora, Brady Heywood and Tai Langan, the Bloods were able to control the contest from the outset.

NILMA-DARNUM comfortabl­y accounted for Poowong, 8-14 (62) to 5-5 (35).

The Bombers built their lead across the first three quarters to hold a 28-point advantage at the final change, the match petering out with two goals apiece in the final term.

Josh Price, Brady Einsiedel, Harrison Moore, Justin Dessent, Korey Carrison and Luke McKenzie helped the Bombers control the contest.

Poowong were best served by Tyran Lord, Fiachra Staunton, Mathew Burr, Daniel McDonald and Rhys Schulz.

CATANI were too strong for a Nyora side battling personnel issue, winning 14-8 (92) to 1-6 (12).

Kyle Van Dord and Noah Young put their hand up for senior re-call in a big win for the Blues. Jack Hobson, Josh Miller, Ryan Orridge and Nathaniel Rodda.

The undermanne­d Saints were best served by Brad Drews, Shaun Lamb, Mitchell Fallaw, Bradey Welsh and Jake Prosser.

NEERIM-NEERIM SOUTH overcame some early inaccuracy to comfortabl­y account for Yarragon, 12-17 (89) to 0-4 (4).

The damage could have been greater had it been for a better return than 5-11 to half time.

Fletcher Robertson-Edgar, Eddie McGillivra­y, Matthew Pecoraro, Harry Notman, Aaron Mitchell and Matthew Kelliher led the Cats to victory.

Yarragon's best were Michael Price, Oliver Marek, Clayton Bawden, Joel Binzer, Ryan Young and Chris Brook.
