Match abandoned

-

THE twilight fixture at Yarragon was unable to be completed, with the contest between the Panthers and Neerim-Neerim South ultimately abandoned at half time.

With a Panthers player receiving a significant head knock resulting in concussion, more than 30 minutes elapsed while waiting for arrival of the paramedics, rendering the match over with the Cats leading 12-7 (79) to 2-3 (15).

With the half time milestone achieved, the result and score will stand. In positive news, the player was later seen up and about and leaving the venue on his own free will.

Led by Chris Urie, who finished with five goals and could have finished with a big bag had the game gone the distance, the Cats made a fast start.

Seven goals to one in the first term was followed by five goals to one in the second, before the unfortunate player injury occurred.

Luke Kinder chipped in with three goals with Kody Wilson, Ayden Ramm, Tyssen Morrow and Cooper Clancy also among the best for the Cats. Yarragon were best served by Trav Davis, Devin Pollock, Sam van der Zalm, Ryan Devine, Zak Hogton and Damien Allison.

TRAFALGAR were forced to come from behind to account for Longwarry, 10-12 (72) to 8-9 (57).

The Bloods were challenged early, as the Crows took a narrow six-point lead at the first two breaks.

Needing to lift to avoid an upset result, the Bloods added three goals to one to take a valuable 11-point lead into the final change.

The homes side held onto the narrow advantage from there, adding two goals to one in the final term.

Helping Trafalgar across the line were Matthew Swenson, who finished with five goals, Jayden Thomas, Jace Butler, Daniel Baker, Drew O' Brien and Jamie Hines.

Leading an improved effort from the Crows were Darren Granger, Angus Adamiak, Ben Cuckson, Cooper Brown, Fintan Fox and Luke Clarkson.
