Fiddlesticks -a place of creative musical exploration

-

Fiddlesticks Performing Arts is a progressive, sequential music program for ages 0-12 years.

A nurturing, high quality music education, using both Kodaly and Orff philosophy which champion play-based learning-the best way for young children to learn.

Davina, Libby and Jayne (Director) also provide a place for parents to connect and feel supported in their journey of parenthood.

Baby Beats gently immerse infants in singing, fingerplays and rhyming using beautiful quality instruments and fun props like puppets, bouncing teddies on blankets or rolling a ball to Mum or Dad.

Toddle Tunes is an upbeat class designed for toddlers who are learning beat keeping, moving their bodies to music, singing and the beginnings of transferring sound onto instruments.

Viva, our Kinder class extends these skills, but with a greater emphasis on speech, gross/ fine motor skills and midline crossing, as we know music enhances a child’s brain development which helps to set them up for learning at school.

‘Jambo’ is for children aged Prep-Grade 2, where students are given the opportunity to try keyboard, violin, drums and ukulele and Ruckus our Upper Primary class Grade 3-6 continues their instrumental experience forming a rock band developing skills in guitar, drumkit and singing using proper microphone techniques.

Another exciting, growing Arts activity for children is Gippsland Youth Symphony Orchestra, recently founded by Jayne Neilson (Director of Fiddlesticks) and conductor of Gippsland Symphony Orchestra, David Williams (OAM) in 2023.

The group meets in the school holidays for workshops run by teachers and mentors of GSO. In 2025, GYSO looks to establish a weekly rehearsal and sharing regular performances in our community.
