Golfing for Leanne
More than 180 happy golfers took part in the sixth annual Leanne Bambridge Charity Golf Day held in perfect conditions at Drouin Country Club on Friday.
The day’s purpose is to raise funds for the Leukemia Foundation and is held in honour of Leanne, who passed away from the disease in 2018.
Leanne’s husband Anthony is the Director of Golf at Drouin Country Club and her sons Lachie and Zac are both excellent golfers in their own right.
Leanne was an integral part of the Drouin Country Club and the community in general and it is a tribute to her and the Bambridge family that the day has become the marquee event on the club’s calendar.
Golfers clad in orange – Leanne’s favourite colour – took on the course in teams of three in an ambrose style competition. The course was in superb condition with visitors from Melbourne and beyond commenting on its quality.
A number of activations were set up on the day.
Most notably, participants had the chance to win a Ford Ranger with a hole in one on the par three 14th thanks to Warragul City Ford.
The hole was livestreamed on YouTube in case someone was able to take out the prize.
Unfortunately, no one was able to achieve the feat. Perhaps next year’s event will see a change in luck.
Following the golf, players assembled in the club house for the prize ceremony with some tremendous prizes handed out to winners and placegetters. Anthony, Lachie and Zac made the presentations.
An auction followed with a number of items donated by local business sold to raise money for the foundation.
President of the Drouin Country Club Andrew Anderson thanked all the volunteers who worked on the day to make it the success it was.
“It is a tribute to Anthony and Leanne and how highly regarded they are in our community the amount of people who turn out to support the event,” he said.
