Foundations of Art Therapy: A unique training opportunity
Art Psychotherapy Australia is again, through Dr Janine Brophy-Dixon (PhD) and Carla Temple, offering the Foundations of Art Therapy - Training for Professionals, aimed at counsellors, psychologists, psychotherapists, health workers, case workers, social workers, teachers, nurses, community artists, youth workers and for all those working or studying in the health or welfare sectors.
For 10 years this course has been successfully offered, with participants gaining skills, knowledge and an understanding of how art-making can lead to change and transformation.
Participants always comment on how much they have learnt and gained both personally and professionally.
Carla is a trained Art Therapist with a background in Special Education.
She has conducted programs across Australia and overseas, co-authored two books and written training material for Australasia Education on school bullying, worked in a women’s refuge, and conducts women’s workshops.
Janine is an artist, Art Therapist, counsellor, researcher, and educator who has worked in prisons, drug and alcohol, and indigenous services.
She lectures at the Australian College of Applied Psychology.
Janine said, ‘Art therapy is an essential tool for all professionals to generate change and insight when working with clients and students.’
Carla added, ‘Art therapy expresses what words cannot. This dynamic training benefits those who are keen to move their professional practice forward. Participants leave with an extensive practical resource manual and relevant journal articles.’
Course includes all art materials and no artistic abilities required.
