$20,000 offered in cup

-

Trotter Overandout will be in familiar surroundings when he lines up in the $20,000 Eddie Evison Memorial Cup at Warragul on Sunday.

Most mornings Overandout and trainer Rob Evans can be seen working around the Logan Park race circuit.

Overandout has recorded seven wins and seven minor placings from only 23 race starts - the eight-year-old has only raced consistently since late 2022 after only making its debut as a four-year-old.

His trainer thought enough of the horse to campaign Overandout in Brisbane for feature races last Winter.

The horse returned to racing with sixth placings at Cranbourne and Yarra Valley in March. Despite Sunday's event being potentially a stronger race for Overandout, under the handicap conditions of the race he will be well positioned at the start.

Overandout should draw on the front row of the handicaps on Sunday, having been off a 30-metre mark in some of his previous races.

Top driver Craig Demmler, who drove the winner of the second Eddie Evison Memorial in 1998, regularly drives Overandout in its races.

Trafalgar horseman Chris Hunter also has his eye on a runner in the Evison Memorial, a race he has been keen to win for many years.

Chris served on the local racing club committee with Eddie Evison for many years.

Hunter lines up Sovereign Tiger, the most consistent trotter across last year's Warragul racing season.

The Eddie Evison Memorial event honours a great stalwart of local trotting, and the continued sponsorship of the Evison and Sherar families makes the race one of the highlights each year at Warragul.
