A GOOD EXAMPLE

Mrs ET Bruce, of Longwarry, who last year donated £25 to the Warragul District Hospital, has again manifested her great interest in the institution by collecting on her bicycle £25 9s 5d, being part of Longwarry’s allocation of £50 towards the erection of the soldiers memorial ward at the hospital. This amount was handed over to the secretary of the hospital last week, and will be very highly appreciated by the committee.

MAIN DRAIN

The question of the condition of the main drain, which takes away to the north not only the town drainage, but also that of the two butter factories, has been before council for some time, but although the council have given a deal of thought to the matter, and two inspections, the provided has been too involved for solution, so far. But at the council meeting on Friday the engineer reported that he was now in communication with an engineering firm in Melbourne, who had promised to submit a scheme for dealing effectively with nuisance, on similar lines to those adopted in a big milk factory for Nestles Company in New South Wales. This proposal would be presented to the next meeting, together with cost of same.
