Bombers grind to win

NILMA-DARNUM ground out victory over Longwarry in an entertaini­ng Ellinbank District under 16 contest.

Following a tight opening half, the Bombers had the answers to several Crows challenges to win 11-8 (74) to 7-3 (45).

The Crows just couldn't break within 10 points as the Bombers kicked five goals to three in the second half, the match featuring end to end play and high scoring for a junior match.

Lachlan Walker, Archie Price, Josh Kelly, Levi Fisher, Jake Garvey and Cody Ward helped the Bombers to victory.

Leading the competitiv­e effort for Longwarry were Ethan Seskis, Travis Gilbert, Ryder Comben, Van Wilson, Jarvis Law and Harvey Mylius.

BULN BULN accounted for Ellinbank in a low scoring affair.

Two goals to nil in the first and final quarters bookended the 5-3 (33) to 1-6 (12) result for the Lyrebirds.

Oscar Blackwood, Bailen Lewien, Jack Hutchison, Charlie Lindau, Jesse Jagoe and Flynn Bravington helped the home team grind out victory.

Rhylee Stewart, Archer Thorne, Liam Klason, Luke Rollinson, Riley Butters and Brodie Onslow were the better players for Ellinbank.

OTHER matches were one-sided with Poowong comfortabl­y accounting for Trafalgar, 6-14 (50) to 1-3 (9).

Four goals to nil in the second term set up the buffer the Magpies needed.

Cruze Deal, Kohen Mandemaker, Bryce Broadmore, William Dixon, Raffi Van Venrooy and William Dourley drove the strong win.

Trafalgar was best served by William Mills, Oliver White, Tait Kersten, Brodie Gauci, Ryan Davis and Zak Larkin.

ELEVEN goals from Ash Mounsey helped Neerim-Neerim South to a thumping win over Yarragon, 17-14 (116) to 0-2 (2).

Daniel Christian, Declan Shortis, Jesse Etchell, Jett Muir and Blair Loft also were prominent for the Cats.

Ty Keeble, Rhys McDonald-Flegg, Rusty Axford, Matthew Armstrong, Connor O'Sullivan and Matthew Balfour were the better players for Yarragon.
