Communities hold Anzac services

Towns and rural communities will observe Anzac Day on Thursday with services at memorials throughout Baw Baw Shire.

There will be some temporary roads closures at several towns leading up to and during the ceremonies.

Services will be at:Aberfeldy - noon at Anzac memorial. Darnum - 11am at the cenotaph.

Drouin - Memorial Park, Princes Way.

6am dawn service followed by refreshments. 9.30am march starting from Bendigo Bank car park.

10am main service.

Princes Way will be closed between Main South Rd and Francis Ave from 5.30am to 7am and from 9.30am to 11.30am. Footpaths will remain open.

Erica - 9 am at cenotaph.

Moe-Walhalla Rd between Station St and Thomson Valley Rd will be closed to traffic between 8.30am and 10am. Detour available. Hill End - 10.30am at cenotaph.

Jindivick - 11am at cenotaph.

Longwarry North - 6 am at Veterans Motorcycle Club.

Narracan - 9.30am at Narracan East cenotaph.

Neerim South - 2pm Neerim Health hospital carpark.

Noojee - 6am at cenotaph.

Thorpdale - 9am at cenotaph.

Trafalgar - at cenotaph.

6am dawn service.

11am main service.

Contingent St closed between Princes Highway and Kitchener St from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Kitchener St closed between Contingent and Wellington Sts between 10.30am and 2pm. Footpaths remain open.

Walhalla - 6 am at memorial.

Main Rd closed from 5am until 6.45am. Detours in place.

Warragul - at cenotaph cnr Victoria and Smith Sts.

6am dawn service.

9.50am march along Victoria St.

10am main service.

Smith and Victoria Sts between Palmerston and Queen Sts closed 5.30am to 7.30am and 9.15am to 11.30am.

Traffic will be temporarily held for about five to 10 minutes at Victoria/Palmerston Sts from 9.55am. Footpaths remain open.

Willow Grove - 9.30am at cenotaph. Yarragon - 10.30am at cenotaph.

People that cannot attend any of the services are encouraged to stand outside and observe one minute’s silence at 5.55 am as the Last Post is played during the Anzac Day dawn service.
