Agents keeping busy

January is proving to be no holiday for Gold Coast realtors who have been sealing some impressive deals

SEVERAL multi-million dollar sales have been secured across the Gold Coast in what is shaping up to be a bumper January for the market. Katrina Walsh of Harcourts Coastal reported a $3.25 million sale in Mermaid Beach earlier this week.

She said a Central Coast developer snapped up the three-bedroom penthouse at 11/2 Lavarack Rd after the sweeping ocean views captured his interest. The property didn’t sell under the hammer but was sold shortly after.

“The auction campaign attracted the buyer in week one of the campaign,” Ms Walsh said. “The buyer did not attend the auction but negotiated directly after.”

It follows the $7.7 million sale of a Surfers Paradise mansion at 14 Admiralty Drive last week. Michael Kollosche of Kollosche Prestige Agents marketed the property as being “located on quiet six-knot river inlet with panoramic city views, main living area with open fireplace, high ceilings, glossy timber floors, indoor and outdoor living areas on each level”.

In other news, AFL superstar Gary Ablett has put his sprawling Ashmore property on the market. It is understood he is looking to downsize from his 3342sq m residence but plans to remain on the Coast.

Records show Ablett bought his property in 2011 for $1.8 million, shortly after he joined the Gold Coast Suns.

A lagoon-style pool, Bali hut, tennis court and pontoon are among its luxury features.

Meanwhile, Ray White Broadbeach’s hosted a party on Wednesday night at their Alta residences. Alta, at 48-50 Woodroffe Ave, Main Beach includes six three-bedroom apartments designed for the “downsizing owner-occupier”.

Developed by Wilman and designed by Willemsen Architecture, there are three apartments still on the market.
