French lifestyle sparks thoughtful renovation

The amount of care that has gone into revamping and maintaining this two-level property will ensure you feel right at home when you move in

SUSIE and Tom Robb spent 10 years living in France so it’s no surprise their luxury Worongary abode has a French-inspired feel. Located in the St Andrews Heights estate, the two-level, four-bedroom home was designed to capture the panorama of the Gold Coast with stunning views from almost every window.

The retirees bought the property in 2005 upon their return from France.

“The house just had a beautiful outlook and an openness about it – it was a little peaceful oasis and it really suited us,” Ms Robb said. “The view of the Coast is just fantastic, you can see from Burleigh Heads to Surfers Paradise.”

The retirees completely gutted the house and put their own stamp on it. “When we renovated it we weren’t thinking of selling, so we did everything for us and what we liked,” she said.

“We knocked down walls, put the best taps in and opened up the kitchen to the outside.

“We retiled top to bottom including the outside and pool area, we built a garden and because we lived in France, we wanted it to have a French feel so we bought beautiful marble tiles in. We put in what we think is a magical touch.”

Both levels are self-contained for the extended family or visitors but can also be used as a home office or musical studio.

“It’s just a really liveable … house,” Ms Robb said. She hoped the new buyer would experience the same enjoyment from the home that they had over the years.
