AFTER looking at more than 50 Gold Coast properties, Sydneysiders Helen and John Spira finally found the one.

Located at 24 Jaguar Drive, the six-bedroom mansion comes with grand features, including a 6m kitchen bench, high ceilings and a floor-toceiling stone-stacked fireplace.

“We flew up to the Gold Coast every weekend for three months,” Mrs Spira said. “We would arrive Saturday morning and go through dozens of open homes and then fly out Sunday.”

“We found the most fabulous house in the end, and it was just in time because we had sold our Coral Bay home in Sydney.”

The mother-of-four said her family were drawn to the Gold Coast for its lifestyle.

“We couldn’t justify moving to the Gold Coast and not living on the water,” she said. “The home itself really caught our eye because of its timber entrance which reminded us of our last home which was designed by Harry Seidler. It has a similar mid-century, modernist style.”

Mrs Spira said it had only been a year since the family moved in. “The boys are all off to doing their own thing and the house is far too big for my husband and I,” she said. “It was the perfect place for teenage boys because there are so many spaces for them.”

The home has a sophisticated style with lightfilled interiors and exposed timber shelving that form a focal point to the open living and dining space. Polished concrete floor tiles and Caesarstone surfaces feature in the kitchen, which Mrs Spira describes as irreplaceable.

“The kitchen is amazing, it has two ovens and a steam oven and you can have all your guests around the island bench and entertain them from there with food that comes straight out of the oven and a view that looks across the water.,” Mrs Spira said

The main bedroom exudes luxury with picture-frame windows that capture water, skyline and hinterland views.

The 801sq m property is within walking distance to The Southport School and has 27m of private beachfront.
