Buyers splash cash
Big sales continue on the Gold Coast, as one Tallebudgera street lands a new record with the sale of a quirky barn house-inspired home
THE big sales continue on the Gold Coast, with a stunning acerage property at 548 Trees Rd, Tallebudgera, selling for $2.8 million.
Designed by architect Michael Witty, the fivebedroom, five-bathroom home combines simple country style with luxury design and channels a barn house. The home has a glamorous fitout after the previous owners spent more than $100,000 on renovations including a contemporary kitchen. Ray White Mermaid Beach’s Scott Keatley said no. 289 and no. 564-568 Trees Rd also sold this month.
“A couple from Melbourne who run an earth moving business bought 548 Trees Rd,” he said.
“It is an unusual home, the walls don’t quite meet the ceilings, there are Japanese sliding doors and there is a quirky passage way in the home. The architecture is stunning but it doesn’t suit everyone.”
The sale has set a new residential record for the street, according to CoreLogic.
Meanwhile, in Broadbeach Waters a home has sold for $1.55 million.
The five-bedroom, four-bathroom house at 37 Sonder St hit the market in March.
Michael Mahon from M-Motion negotiated the deal and said Broadbeach was a hotspot for overseas buyers.
“We had nine written offers on the home within the first five days, six of these offers came from interstate and overseas buyers,” he said.
A four-bedroom home at 5430 Marine Drive North in Hope Island sold on the same day for $1.05 million as well as a run-down Coolangatta home selling for $1.05 million.
The four-bedroom Coolangatta home at 66 Rutledge St was built in the 1950s and is poised on a 1262sq m elevated block. RBR Property Consultants agent Col Wright said there were seven bidders at the auction.
“It is a great opportunity to renovate or redevelop,” he said. In last weeks’s Gold Coast real estate magazine, a production error caused the weekly snapshot to show sales results from 2014.
