Mr Etournaud and his wife Jocelyne also own a family home close by at Broadbeach Waters, near where their daughters studied at Bond University.

“I used to go to the Gold Coast from Sydney when I was a student,” he said.

“I’ve seen the Gold Coast develop in the last 50 years and it’s a unique location and lifestyle.

“Having travelled so much since 1976, I think I realise more than others how lucky we are to be in this area.

The view alone from the Etournauds’ threebedroom, three-bathroom Oracle Boulevard apartment is a beautiful reminder of the luxury of living on the Glitter Strip.

“At sunset you have the mountainside and canals, sunrise is over the beach and during the night Surfers is all lit up like a Christmas tree,” Mr Etournaud said.
