Experience living in spacious splendour

With its raw chic timber and stone finishes, this delightful five-bedroom home is ideal for families who think big

THE village feel of Hope Island was a selling point for homeowners Dean and Kylie Curry who were looking north to build their family home.

“It is one way in and one way out,” Mrs Curry said.

“We love walking across from our home to the resort and watching live bands play.”

The Currys built their stunning family home almost 15 years ago and said they were lucky to find the block.

“We have been here for quite a while and we have celebrated 21st’s and 18th birthdays as well as Christmas but my husband is eager to live on the water now,” Mrs Curry said.

“I would love to replicate this home but I don’t think it can be done.

“It is such a big, spacious home and the blocks in new estates these days are no where near as big as ours on Hope Island.”

Mrs Curry said it was handy having a builder for a husband. “It is a contemporary home but it has a warm feel,” she said. “I’m very fond of raw materials.”

The couple have worked together to use timber, stone and concrete to create a modern abode with five-bedrooms and the opportunity for a dual living lifestyle.

“We wanted to accommodate my mum as well when we built it,” Mrs Curry said.

“She has her own kitchen and laundry and we all hang out in the big living room.”
