A MUDGEERABA eco-mansion has changed hands for $3.425 million – the second-highest price paid for a property in the suburb.
The unusual property in gated Jabiru Park estate has a 33kw solar system with a back-up battery system.
The hi-tech house at 7 Sunnymeade Place has 130 solar panels – about six times that of an ordinary house – and generates enough electricity to power the property 24/7.
Katrina Walsh of Harcourts Coastal handled the sale and said a local couple bought the fivebedroom residence.
“We auctioned it and then sold it postauction,” she said.
“The buyers liked the size, space, views and quality of the construction. The eco-efficiency of the home was an added bonus.”
A cinema, gym, pool, sauna steam room and separate children’s wing are among the house’s features while a C-bus automation system controls the lighting and sound.
The top sale in Mudgeeraba is $4.19 million for 65 Bonogin Rd in 2015.
Meanwhile, the $2.152 million sale of a fivebedroom home at Mermaid Beach was the highlight of John Henderson Professionals Mermaid Beach’s August Auction Spectacular.
A crowd of more than 200 people attended the Mermaid Beach Bowls Club on Tuesday to watch as the team auctioned 17 properties, with eight selling on the night.
John Henderson Professionals Mermaid Beach principal Andrew Henderson said his agents were in the process of negotiating potential deals on the remaining properties.
“We had a terrific crowd turn up and the bidding for some of the properties was particularly intense,’’ Mr Henderson said.
Another sale on the night included a fourbedroom house at 35 Venice St which changed hands for $1.125 million.
