Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin - Property

Boldly riding surge

Burleigh Waters has become one of the most sought after Gold Coast suburbs, as this record-breaking auction result last weekend testifies

EVERYONE wants to live in Burleigh Waters. That’s according to Ray White BroadbeachMermaid Waters agent Troy Fitzgerald, who sold a five-bedroom home at auction last weekend for $1.655 million.

“This smashed the record price for Burleigh Waters dry blocks by over $300,000,” he said.

The property at 36 Banksia Broadway features a raft of luxurious features including a media room, alfresco area, pool, outside hot shower and games room.

Mr Fitzgerald said the buyers were from the Gold Coast.

“We had about 90 people at the auction and nine registered bidders,” he said. “The buyers were from Tallebudgera Valley.”

The median house price in Burleigh Waters is $750,500, according to CoreLogic data to July, 2017 – it’s up 1.8 per cent over the past three months and a huge 53 per cent over five years.

Mr Fitzgerald predicted Burleigh Waters to continue to surge and said it was one of the “best places to live on the Gold Coast”.

“That little pocket in Burleigh Waters really is the beachside pocket of Burleigh,” he said.

“It’s walking distance to James St, the beach, The Village Markets, cafes and restaurants.

“There’s a lot of people with new builds and renovations in Burleigh and you might find there will be an influx of those types of properties on the market now that this property at Banksia Broadway sold for such a high price.”

The highest price paid for a house in Burleigh Waters was $1.95 million in September.

The property is on the waterfront at 65 Wedgebill Pde.
