The property entrepreneur owner of a blue-chip Southport waterfront mansion has reflected on her home of 36 years, as it’s listed on the market

PROPERTY entrepreneur Bea Jeanes is selling her European-style Southport mansion after almost four decades.

“I get the most glorious reflections here, not only the northern views and lovely lights of the Mirage, but all the way down the river and the beautiful big high-rises,” said vendor Bea Jeanes.

“In a way it’s like living on a huge lake, and I’ll miss that terribly. There’s nowhere else like this in the world where you can have beautiful breezes, trees all around you and be at the edge of the most exciting waterfronts you could find.”

Upon entry, the bespoke balustrade of a sweeping staircase leads up to the generous bedrooms and ensuites.

Downstairs, the residence sprawls over multiple living spaces, a media room and vast gourmet kitchen, completed by subtle European touches such as absent architraves and an array of sun-drenched terraces.

Ms Jeanes, a keen traveller, is selling the property for something “more manageable”.

She raised her family in the waterfront mansion, adjacent to The Southport School.

“I didn’t have boys, I always wished I had one with TSS right there,” she said. “My girls went to St Hilda’s close by.” The Jeanes’, including daughter Thea Jeanes-Cochrane — now married to Gold Coast Suns chairman Tony Cochrane, were a “sporty family”, and Ms Jeanes ensured a pool, complete with diving board, and tennis court were included when the property was built.
