Beach draws in buyers

Otto Mermaid Beach is popular for its boutique size and resort style facilities

- WORDS ALEISHA DAWSON

CONSTRUCTION has kicked off on Otto Mermaid Beach with half of the residences already sold.

Buyers have snapped up 36 of the 70 apartments in the $44 million nine-storey project.

“Demolition of the two buildings which occupied the corner of Bondi Ave and the Gold Coast Highway is now complete paving the way for excavation of the three-storey basement,” Morris Property Group principal Barry Morris said.

Mr Morris said many buyers were drawn to the project due its boutique size, resort style facilities and proximity to the beach.

The development is 300m from the beach and offers high-end features and luxury finishes including European fitments by Parisi and Franke and appliances by Fisher & Paykel. Other features include curved balconies, expansive floor to ceiling windows and spectacular ocean and hinterland views.

Resident facilities include a pool, gym and alfresco barbecue area and terrace.

Prices start from $509,900. A NEW Coomera housing estate has sold out months ahead of expectation, prompting the next stage release to be brought forward.

All 41 blocks at Choice Homes’ Camelot residential development on Amity Rd have been snapped up since its launch in late October last year, with construction about to start on a number of homes.

The next stage includes 51 blocks and will feature two new display homes.

Average block sizes are 400sq m and house and land packages start from $503,000.

Choice Homes director Troy Knight said Camelot’s proximity to the Coomera Town Centre and a new school opposite the development had created huge demand.

“Location is everything in real estate and Camelot certainly provides access to a wide range of services including the much anticipated Town Centre which is slated to open its first stage in September,” Mr Knight said.

“I think the upgrade to the road network in the area has also been a catalyst for demand with the area showing no signs of a slow down.”
