Helensvale proving popular
Owner-occupiers make up more than 90 per cent the sales at The Surrounds
ON a regular basis, management consultant Dijana Pejo’s work takes her frequently between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
So when it came time for Mrs Pejo and her husband, Serge, to find their perfect home in the southeast, Helensvale proved a winner.
The couple bought into Villawood Properties’ The Surrounds, in which 234 lots have now sold.
The family moved to the Gold Coast from the UK a year ago and had been searching for somewhere to build their family home.
Mrs Pejo said she liked that it was a real community area that they bought into but one of the main deciding factors was the connectivity between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
“(My) clients are scattered everywhere, quite often I am in Brisbane and quite often I am in the Gold Coast at Surfers Paradise,’’ she said.
Not having to drive was important so good access to the train line to Brisbane was a big factor in deciding to buy at The Surrounds.
“We really haven’t found anything else that had the same connection,’’ she said.
“We looked for a few months, found this and ... we just jumped at it.’’
As well as making her working week easier, Mrs Pejo said being able to get the train from there to the Brisbane area was a bonus as they often received overseas visitors and it made it easier for them to visit.
“The Surrounds is not only adjacent the M1, we will be able walk down to Helensvale station from our new home, catch the train to Brisbane, or jump on the tram and travel to central Gold Coast locations.’’
The development has plenty of green space and a $4 million leisure centre with state-ofthe-art facilities, which is currently under construction.
Mrs Pejo, said their children, Adam and Lana, were excited to live so close to the new playground and central park.
The family will build a two-storey, fivebedroom house with an outdoor dining area, through builder, Simonds.
Villawood Properties state development manager Michael Williams says more than 90 per cent of the sales made to date had been to owner-occupiers.
