Five Gold Coast suburbs make the top 10 in Queensland searched by interstate buyers

- WORDS:ALEISHA DAWSON

IT’S no surprise house hunters from New South Wales and Victoria are our leading interstate buyers but where exactly are they looking to buy?

Data from realestate.com.au reveals five Gold Coast suburbs made the top 10 suburbs in Queensland when it came to the number of searches from other states.

While Brisbane City was the most popular and searched for suburb, Surfers Paradise came in a close second and Southport was number four. Broadbeach and Burleigh Heads followed while Palm Beach came in at number eight.

New South Wales house hunters were the most common followed by those in Victoria and Tasmania.

On the international front, the most popular house hunters were from New Zealand, followed by the United Kingdom and United States.

Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads, Southport and Hope Island all made Queensland’s top 10 when it came to the number of searches by international buyers.

REIQ Gold Coast zone chair Andrew Henderson said it wasn’t surprising to see so many Coast suburbs inside the top 10.

“Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Burleigh Heads are the more well-known suburbs of the Gold Coast so that’s why they would be in the search criteria for both interstate and international buyers,” Mr Henderson said.

“It’s a pretty well worn path to get to those suburbs.

“Buyers are probably following in the footsteps of friends or family who have gone before them and moved to the Gold Coast.”
