CHEVRON Island will be home to a $45 million art deco-themed apartment building, called The Catalina.

Developed by Marquee Development Partners, the project will feature 75 two and three-bedroom apartments priced from $499,000 to $1.1 million.

Since its launch to the market on November 23, interest has predominantly come from downsizers, locals from the island looking to upgrade and some interstate investors.

The building has been crafted by awardwinning BDA Architecture, who has taken design cues from the vibrant South Beach

Miami art deco precinct in America, complete with leading wellness amenities including pool, sauna, gym, yoga station, spa treatment rooms, hydrotherapy shower and entertainment spaces.

Marquee Development Partners CEO Mark Spedding said The Catalina would be a “oneof-a-kind project’’, which will combine the best qualities of Marquee’s last two buildings, Stanhill and The Peninsular.

“The Catalina will be quite a distinctive building, taking a contemporary approach to the art deco architecture that is popular in southern Florida and very complementary to the emerging arts and cultural scene on

Chevron Island with unique artwork to appear through the building interior,” Mr Spedding said.

“The Catalina will take in spectacular views of the river and Surfers Paradise city skyline and will be targeted towards owner occupiers and long-term rentals, with no short term or holiday letting, so there will be a real sense of community.”

Apartments will have floor-to-ceiling glass to maximise natural light, as well as timeless modern interiors and a grand double-height lobby as residents arrive home.

Mr Spedding said the success of the recently sold out Stanhill project on Chevron

Island and Peninsular Residences project in Surfers Paradise reinforced the developer’s confidence in the Coast.

Peninsular Residences was recently selected as a finalist at the 2019 Queensland UDIA awards for medium-scale apartment projects in Queensland, which is further testament to the attention to detail and quality design of Marquee’s projects.

“In our view, Chevron Island is the Gold Coast’s best real estate opportunity, with the Home of the Arts (HOTA) and associated infrastructure being built, such as the new Green Bridge, creating a community that is more connected than ever before,” he said.
