A NORTH Queensland couple are retiring on the Gold Coast after splashing $5.05 million on a luxury penthouse in Broadbeach.

The sale, handled by Tolemy Stevens of Harcourts Coastal, was sealed earlier this week.

“This fantastic couple who have been working all their lives and had holidayed on the Gold Coast, and in particular in Broadbeach when they were teenagers, had always dreamt of retiring in a beautiful property on the Coast by the beach,” he said.

“Now after running successful businesses for the majority of their lives they have secured the ultimate beachfront home to retire in. They are absolutely over the moon and we couldn’t be happier for them.”

The 452sq m property, at 7/19 Broadbeach Blvd, is one of only 7 residences in the building.

It is spread over two levels and features a wine cellar, lift to both floors, stair case, bespoke cabinetry, a huge balcony and spectacular ocean and skyline views.

“In the 15 years that I’ve been fortunate enough to assist owners in selling luxury beachfront property on the Gold Coast, this would have to be one of the best properties I’ve seen,” Mr Stevens said.

The sale comes as demand for property in regional Australia including the Gold Coast continues to soar according to REA Group chief economist Nerida Conisbee.

“Search activity on realestate.com.au has seen a bigger jump in views per listing for regional parts of Australia than for capital cities,” she said.

“This is likely to be explained by COVID-19 as people are perhaps looking for bigger places to live and aren’t currently tied to a central workplace. Longer term, acceptance of flexible working does mean that living in a capital city may no longer be necessary.”
