THE borders might be shut but that doesn’t mean you can “get your Zen on” at this lush retreat in Palm Beach.

On the market with Harcourts Coastal Broadbeach agent Katrina Walsh, 34 Tenth Ave was designed to make those who reside there feel relaxed.

“It has a Byron Bay feel to it,” Ms Walsh said. “As soon as you walk in, you feel relaxed. I know I felt like I could get my Zen on there.”

Owned by Adrian and Janice Mulligan, the house was designed and constructed by Creative Homes.

It embraces the sunlight and ocean breezes, with its lush tropical gardens making you feel a world away from everyday life.

”We built it five years ago. It is the third one we have built and we have always liked that open design, where you can open up and let the outside in,” Mrs

Mulligan said.

“It has concrete floors and our grandchildren used to ride their scooters through the house. “It is very forgiving like that.” Mrs Mulligan said she created the tropical garden, propogating each plant.

“It feels like you could be anywhere,” she said.

The single level home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and sits on a 670 sqm block.

Features include polished concrete, aged wood, banks of louvre windows and huge glass expanses.

Cathedral ceilings with exposed timber beams and feature cross bracing define the open plan dining area, living room, and galley kitchen, which has timber bench tops, a tropical inspired splashback and a dining island bench.

To the rear of the house is a separate kids wing with a spacious media room, two bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, and the main bathroom.

The media/games room opens on to the covered deck.

At the front of the house is a home office, a clothes drying room, an additional bedroom, a laundry and powder room.

The master suite is also tucked away in its own private wing and a large fully tiled ensuite with twin vanities plus copious storage.

Outside there is the timber deck with ceiling fans and glass fencing that overlooks the magna swimming plunge pool which is surrounded by beautiful tropical foliage.

Other features include a walk-through storeroom, a double carport, a 5000L water tank with a pump, and a garden shed. It is also located less than 500m of the beach, parks, shops, cafes and restaurants.

The Mulligans are selling what was to be their forever home to move closer to family in Brisbane.

“It will be sad to leave but we are gypsies like that,” Mrs Mulligan said.
